Modern Medicine Lay Perspectives and Experiences

The contributors examine lay experiences and evaluations of medicines and drugs, chronic illness and life-saving technology, and new reproductive technologies. In doing so, they firmly ground some of the more abstract theoretical debates surrounding modern medicine and the lay population in the empirical evidence. In addition, the growing popularity of complementary therapies as a challenge to orthodox medicine is examined.
