This was such a surprisingly delightful read. I chose this book back when I first got my Kindle in 2011 and this was one of the free books. I hadn't ever gotten around to reading it and I decided to go through my Kindle Library and start to read some of those books I downloaded and never read.

This was such a good choice, telling the story of a group of women who chose to go out west and homestead. The novel primarily focuses on five of the women, and shows them overcoming all different challenges that faced many women who were settling the western United States. Each woman's background is unique and each woman has to work to overcome her own struggles. I found that I felt a connection to many of the women as the stories unfolded.
