I made it to page 161 but I probably won’t pick it up again. While I find quantum mechanics fascinating, I’m just not that invested in many worlds theory.

The first third of this book was wonderful: engaging, tightly written, dense-but-easy-to-understand. Unfortunately, the remaining 2/3 are far too loose – often, it feels like the author starts stapling other topics onto the points he’s been making with no real connection. Key to me is the notion that after all this, I still don’t fully understand what he’s describing by Many Worlds – that key point seems to pass in a blink before we move onto other topics.

I really enjoyed this book. Perhaps not as much as Carroll's previous one, but I still found it enlightening. Even if you don't think the Many-Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is the right one, this book will flesh out Carroll's thinking on the subject. He's a great writer, so the book was easy to read (though that doesn't mean the topic is simple!).

I would recommend the book to anyone looking to understand more about the foundations of quantum mechanics.
