It’s a 3.75 star book, powerful and purposeful but terrifying in its hopelessness. Maybe the bleakest thing I’ve ever read! There’s a heavy amount of repetition that could be excised but some of it you probably have to read twice to believe it’s happening, perhaps.

A brutal portrait of an isolated, lawless society. The prose was as vulgar and horrifying as the depravity and violence it depicts. Difficult to read, but even more difficult to put down.

Oh my fucking god……
this book is assaulting, vitriolic, labyrinthine, and honestly horrifying. Touches the dark corners of human experience without doing so for the sake of being subversive, but is truly shocking and subversive no less. The cyclical structure and narrative, the constant unfurling of details in a wall of text, the indiscriminate anger, it’s just like a hurricane. I love this insane book, Ive never read anything like it, and the last chapter made me cry! (much like the relief of the end of a storm)
