Who knows when the next zoonotic epidemic will occur....spillover could be happening right now as I'm writing this review. At the rate that we as human beings invade everything I am shocked that the next pandemic has not already arrived. The scary part is not knowing when or where it will occur. But rest assure spillover WILL occur. It's just a matter if time...and of course "it all depends". Ohhhh so many factors and variables.

David Quammen has done quite a bit of field work and research for this book. He interviews field experts and leading epidemiologists for each zoonotic disease discussed. He traveled far and wide to try and uncover reservoirs for zoonotic diseases. Each chapter is like a detective series for whatever spillover endemic has occurred in whatever region of the world he might be. Fascinating!!!
