I love how Mary Roach combines excellent research and an excellent sense of humor. But, really, this topic comes down to belief. And, man, some of those researchers believed some wacky stuff! It was fascinating to read about.

This was a much harder read than I thought it would be. It wasn't super interesting to me but I did enjoy Chapter 11: Chaffin v. the Dead Guy in the Overcoat.

I rarely write reviews, but the first portion of this book was so insultingly racist and xenophobic that I’m kind of amazed.

The tone overall is superior and mocking and frankly not at all fun to read. It’s nearly ruined me for her other work, which I liked before this.
