I just loved it, it's the perfect summer read. It's cute, there's a little bit of drama but not too much, a little bit of a twist but not a crazy one, I enjoyed the various characters (although Grady was a bit too plain). It reminded me of The Unexpected Everything but with ice cream instead of dogs, and it was just pink and flowery and girly and perfectly sweet.

Amelia was much more likeable at the end but still! The whole time she was a pushover to the worst level. Her friend was also a b**ch. But the writing was phenomenal and the story itself was heartwarming. The ending was also very sweet.

I was thinking about a rating, and in my mind I was like: "Should I maybe drop this down to 3 stars?" but this book was entertaining unlike few other YA I have read. It was a pleasure reading it, I had so much fun and I'm gutted that it's over. It might not be the best book ever, but I had an amazing time reading it.

I really enjoyed the premise and this book a lot. I went to a mostly all girl school and the dynamics in this book reminded me of all female college. I also went to this school as it was going to coed and the male presence def rang true for me. I just loved the use of past and present to tell the story. I loved the focus on female friendship and the focus on the job. I did like the romance but it was def not the focus of the book. I found it to be a super fun read, and reminded me so much of college days. The book had some predictable moments but i still read it so fast!

Yet another average book. I did not have high expectations for this book when I started reading based on the cover and the description. While Vivian's narrative rose above my low expectations, they did not rise to the level of a good book. So much of the book followed traditional story lines. I could have predicted nearly all of it. I also grew frustrated at the start and whenever Amelia read Molly's diary because of the script font, not the author's decision but it definitely affected my perception of the book. The plot also went nowhere really in an utterly predictable way. Eh.

😭💙 I’m super conflicted with this book. 

I liked some parts so much, but at the same time I feel it could have been better. When I read the synopsis I was expecting a light, fun summer read that will made me want to go out and enjoy the sunlight, the sea breeze etc. I thought it was going to be full of adventures with best friends and a hearth- fluttering romance. Nothing like that happened!!! 

You might be thinking “Oh my, it just a book relax” the truth is that I’m not into stand-alone books or contemporary, and this one is both! Most of the time with this type of reads I end up feeling like I wasted my time and I can’t even DNF it because I HATE leaving books unfinished. I know that this is more of a personal issue (Why do I keep doing this to myself? I should know better by now, but gosh that cover was eye catching! I couldn’t hold myself)

Now about the book, not everything was sour milk for me. I fell in love with the Molly’s Meade diary entries, there is something about old stories of people lives that makes my heart sing. Those entries were also very important for our main character Amelia to find herself and her purpose in life. I loved and felt the passion and care she had for the creamery, how she learn to finally stand up for herself was something very fulfilling too. I just wished that in 80% of this book she was not cleaning or stressing out about all the issues the creamery was having.

The romance was a dud for me, I don’t feel like the romantic buildup was realistic. Their interactions lacked of lovey spark. You can definitely see Grady trying to impress her at the beginning and then he is so self-centered and a total butthole, then suddenly he is nice again. Their romance comes out of a routine of them spending a lot of time together figuring out recipes for ice cream. The romantic prompt is good, but I don’t think it was executed at its best. I just didn’t like it, I wonder again if I was the only one with this issue.

I’m not even going to say anything about Amelia’s best friend Cate because that will be a total rant. So I’ll leave it at that. All and all the parts I liked; I enjoyed them thoroughly with no regrets, that’s the only salvation for this book and that’s why I gave it a 4 start rating. It’s nice to see a character struggle, but also see them coming out of their situation stronger and better. This story gets an A for personal grow.

This was my first read by Siobhan Vivan and I absolutely loved it. During the summer months, I'm all about the contemporaries and this was a perfect summery read. 

I loved Amelia as a character and how dedicated she was to keep the ice cream stand from closing. And oh my goodness the character of Grady, I loved him even though he did annoy me at times but their relationship was amazing. 

This was a super light, sweet read and I loved it so much.

I have to say this was a cute read. The thing I like the most about it was seeing our main character Amelia finding and growing into something she truly has a passion for. 

I wouldn't recommend this for it's romance, but the atmosphere is delightful and one I wouldn't mind coming back to. Reading this definitely made me want to live in a quaint small town in the heat of the summer, working with my friends, and doing something I love. :)
