I still stayed up late reading last night. I couldn’t help myself.

I didn’t swim in the ocean because it was too cold most of the year. Sometimes I’d put my feet in and walk along the shore.

That lazy grin returned. “It’s not, but it’s something you learn by doing.”

“Why not enjoy what we have while it’s here,” Wyatt said, quieter this time. “Here for a good time, not for a long time.”

 over; the hard part is me having to spend time around people and convince them to like me.”

He frowned. “You don’t need to convince anyone to like you. People either like you, or they don’t know you well enough, or they don’t matter.”

“Books are all about fantasy, getting immersed in a story and characters. People read as an escape…”

“You’ve got more homework, bookworm.”

Her eyebrows rose and her eyes brightened. “What is it?”

“Round up twenty of your favorite books.”

She paused. “That’s it? I don’t need to run naked down Main Street or something?”

I laughed. “What? I would never make you do that.”

Her shoulder lifted in a shrug and she shot me another smile as we approached the truck.

“You’re trying to push me past my comfort zone.”

The idea of other people, people like Beck, seeing Hannah naked was past 

“Jesus fucking Christ, bookworm, where’d you learn to kiss like this,” Wyatt groaned against my mouth in between kisses. “I thought about you all fucking night. All day. I was going insane, thinking about his hands on you.”

The way she had gazed up at me last night in her room, so trusting, her eyes all hazy and fucking gorgeous, it felt fucking incredible.

To have her look at me like she wanted me, it readjusted something in my chest and that piece wouldn’t go back to where it was before.

Her intuition was sharpening, she was learning the perfect timing of the waves, she was learning which waves to catch and which to let go because they were too messy, and when the ocean tossed her off her board?

She laughed. More and more, she laughed. She was learning it didn’t matter if she failed. It didn’t matter if she didn’t nail that one wave, because there’d be another. There was always another. Each wave existed only in the moment and then it was gone forever.

She beamed at me, so bright I thought my heart might crack open.

It was so easy to rest my gaze on her. Like it belonged there. Like looking at her was healthy for my soul.

This wasn’t some woman I met in a bar. This was Hannah. If we did this, if she pulled me under like a riptide, how could I walk away in September?

One wrong move, losing focus for a split second, and she’d pull me under and swallow me up. There was a current within me, tugging me towards her. Wanting her.

I’d make her remember me, even when she was madly in love with some other guy and I was on the other side of the world, thinking about her.

I fisted her hair and pulled her head back to open her, dipping my tongue inside and tasting her. She moaned as I slid against her tongue and my c*ck swelled.

“Do you like that?” My other hand came to her jaw. “Do you like it when I take control?”

She nodded with a whimper and sucked on my tongue.

This wasn’t like me, this territorial, needy, lust-driven psycho. Hannah made me want to stake my claim, though.

I wanted to be the best. A decade from now, I wanted her to shudder when she thought about tonight, and crave me like I craved her.

“Hold my hand, baby. Hold on to me while you come.”

She fell back onto the pillow and grasped my hand with both of hers. Fuck, she was so sweet, so trusting and brave. Something expanded in my chest that had nothing to do with sex. She squeezed my hand and I squeezed back like she’d float away if I let go.

Maybe I would let myself get swept away until I was ready to resurface.

My heart tugged. Laying with her in a tent in the middle of the woods, her warmth pressed up against me and the taste of her still on my tongue, the universe had aligned. Like she was home for me, she was right where I needed to be. We just fit.

I just hoped that I could swim up for air before I drowned.

This was a problem, but I’d deal with it in the future, when it didn’t make my chest hurt to think about not doing this every morning. All things came to an end, but they wouldn’t end today. Today was all for us.

The period in between waves was long enough that she would have a decent recovery time if she bailed.

I frowned and shifted on my board. She would likely bail. That’s what life was about, though, wasn’t it? That’s what I always told her. Something pinched in my chest but I ignored it. Hannah wasn’t a glass doll that couldn’t be taken out of the case. That’s what we were doing together, showing her she could get messy and fall down and still be okay.

I didn’t care if the town knew we were fooling around.

Let them. Let every guy in town know to stay the fuck away from Hannah because she was mine.

The thought jolted through me. Mine. Of course she was mine.

i adored it !!! and this book was definitely better than the first one. and is definitely going on my ‘favourites’ shelf.

it was lovely! i honestly enjoyed every second of it. 

the main characters were so so adorable, Wyatt is such a good and sweet guy and i’d like to marry him, and Hannah is lovely and brave and amazing. the rest of the characters were also beautifully placed in the story which progressed at a perfect pace. the main character’s development was empowering and we also got a few glimpses for the rest of the books which i always appreciate. 

i don’t want to say a lot, i will only mention that the author’s writing is just beautiful, the story is lovely, the plot is great, the spice is chef’s kiss and that i’m a happy and grateful girl having read this book.

another thing to mention : this book is a great guide for personal development regarding struggles like holding yourself back or wanting to grow by getting out of your comfort zone.

Beautiful rom com. Felt like a really realistic story of two people meeting and falling in love while dealing with their own feelings and fears. It was cute and spicy and had amazing writing. Love the surfer - bookworm convo and how Hannah came out of her shell for herself and to try new things. Her character inspired me to stop living for other people and to start choosing myself

I really liked this, but there were some cringe-y parts that felt inauthentic and unnecessary. And by cringe-y I don't mean in a secondhand embarrassment sort of way.

Also not a fan of third act break ups, but at leas this one was short. the spice though? Next level.

Absolutely adore this book. This is the second time I’ve read it in the span of 4 months.

4.5 - so cute!! i need a wyatt in my life immediately. i love how hannah didn’t change who she was through her journey but she gained confidence. i definitely teared up at the end bc of how sweet it was. loved this book!

The timeline seemed a little rushed and unrealistic. They went from being practically strangers (acquaintances who knew each other through school and family members at best), Hannah thinking Wyatt didn't even know her name, to instant best friends talking about sex and being jealous over each other. 

It was a fine read, but there was little character development and I didn't form any real attachment to either character.
