OH MY GOD!!! THIS BOOK IS JUST FREAKING AMAZING!! I loved The Defense so much but I think I loved this book a little more than the first, to be honest!!! Eddie Flynn can just outwit them all despite every impossible situations laid down in front of him. Personally, I really hate the 'i-will-blackmail-you-through-your-loved-ones' kind of trope because really, it's annoying. It can bring the character's stupidest and most vulnerable side. The decisions somewhat always went tumbling down the road. But here, with Mr. Flynn? Oh, yeah! Blackmail him all you want, but just remember to wait for his clever revenge against you. Yeah, he's vulnerable but not stupid. Definitely not stupid. If anything, his vulnerability can bring out the best of his decisions and can work his genius mind. I just freaking love how clever and sly he was. He was just really one of my most favorite character EVER!!!!

And for the record, I have no goddamn clue as to what was going to happen. Every pages just keeps on surprising me with the twists and turns that it left me with my mouth literally hanging open. Seriously! I may not have a lot of crime/mystery/thriller books that I've read, but I still can safely say that this is one of the best! Along with the first one, of course. I am so freaking excited for the next books of this series.

This is the second book in the Eddie Flynn series and so far I love them.

You always think that you know what will happen but then there comes a new twist to the story. These stories are perfect for an inbetween read. Whenever I want to read an interesting book that isn‘t too heavy, I reach for this series now.

I don't understand why this guy isn't more popular. His first two novels were very good. A con man loses his family. He sobers up, becomes a defense attorney with the intention to go straight. But a case puts his family in danger, so he has to use his skills as a con man to work his way through all the obstacles out of court, and to pick away at the case in court. They are far from straight lawyer novels. They are suspense novels that has a court cases weaved in. Maybe John Grisham has sucked all the air out of the room. At least Cavanagh is appreciated by Goodreads readers.

Poor Eddie Flynn just can’t seem to catch a break. I loved this book just as much as the first one in the series. Yet again, Eddie’s family are in danger due to a case he’s taking. But this time it’s not quite as clear who the bad guy is. This book kept me guessing and theorising throughout. Well worth a read.

Op zich geen slecht boek, maar een tikkie over de top. En op sommige punten daardoor ongeloofwaardig. En Eddie "vertelt" iets te vaak hoe veel hij van zijn vrouw en dochter houd... Come on man up please!
