The Guardian of the Palace by Steven J. Morris is an entertaining fantasy read with well-developed and rock-solid characters.

The plot revolves around Four ex-military ops Red, Scan, Bear, and Rocks who are trying to adjust to civilian life. Now Red is working as security head of a construction site named “Palace” with her 3 friends. one day Red notices some unusual things or creatures in the building. Soon, they find out that the same building as Palace got attacked in Hongkong by unknown creatures. Now they get the idea that earth is in danger and attacked by the forces from another realm. On the other hand, some creatures are helping to save the earth. do the humans and these creatures together able to save the world?

The best part of this book is a perfect blend of traditional fantasy characters with the modern era. I like the non-human characters (will not reveal the name or the spoiler). I love the writing. This is a compelling story woven with great characters, a gripping plot, and a better setup for the next book of the series. Eagerly waiting for the next one.
