I'm speechless. This whole series is a masterpiece. From the writing to the plot to the incredible character arcs and relationships. So well-crafted, so brilliant, so incredible. There's so much depth and complexity to the characters. There were SO many twists and turns I did not see coming. 

The Les Miserables story means so much to me and I was so thrilled to see many elements from the original in this one. My jaw completely dropped at many points in the end, especially moments where I thought something was going to happen and it COMPLETELY goes in a direction I did not see coming. I just need to give an applause to the authors. Though there was one particular moment in the end that made me incredibly sad, I still need to give credit to the authors for making me feel this the way. I understand why they took that turn and it worked out perfectly for that character.

Definitely a favorite series. HIGHLY recommend! PLEASE READ THIS!

           Could not wait for this conclusion...

After the nerve-wracking ending of Between Burning Worlds, I preordered this almost as soon as I was able to and was so excited when it came in. However, it took me about twice as long to finish as either of the previous books did. The pacing was really off here and the first probably 60% of the book was a slog. I did love getting to see Chatine bond with Roche and Cerise's storyline was even more interesting than it previously was. Even still, not a lot happens for a lot of the book, which is a departure from the rest of the series. 

BUT...the ENDING!! For about the last quarter of the book, I could not put it down. Everything that had been building finally came together and (kind of literally) exploded. Seeing the rebellion finally happen was exhilarating, as was watching Alouette finally come into her own and speak. A lot of books do make me tear up, but I was full-on sobbing when Etienne sacrificed himself for the cause in Chatine's place. Besides that, the ending was extremely satisfying and wrapped up the trilogy well without being too sickly-sweet.
