Tarah made me feel all the things with this one! I love how she writes such grounded and relatable female main characters. Tait (our MC) was so candidly herself and I really enjoyed her character growth in this one. Plus the Henry of it all didn’t hurt either 😏. 

The family dynamic was so touching while also being so bananas!! And the cast of characters was so entertaining too. 

Ugh, this made me swoon, hurt and laugh so much.

Rootbound started strong. Tait’s broken marriage and the descriptions of all the feelings that came with that heartbreak reeled me in. Then I believe it became a mess.

I liked Tait a lot. I liked the narration and the writing style. That being said, Henry, the hero, was a little bit meh. He didn’t make me feel anything. Their romance was simply okay.

Maybe it’s because I read The Simple Wild a little ago that  I had a hard time reading again about a woman mad at her father (rightfully so), arriving at her father’s place and suddenly finding the man has a golden heart and the mother is the guilty one for taking the kids away. I’m tired of buying into that one. Overall, one ends up thinking Charlie is a good guy and Tait was an idiot for ignoring him all these years… it doesn’t sit right with me.

As for the other characters and family members, I couldn’t connect with any of them. They all seemed to speak the same way to me. Charlie did a whole lot of talking, and it dragged a little.

Tait’s feelings towards her father drastically changed at some point, and I think I missed the moment.

Around 72% everything sped up for some reason. By then, I was kind of bored of it all, to be honest.

The family drama was… not something I was expecting, nor wanted to be honest. Tait spent the majority of the book ignoring her sister, and then we suddenly find out, out of nowhere and without any addition to the story more than to create drama, that she’s actually the daughter of Charlie’s brother, Duane.

I liked most of the writing, and I enjoyed some parts of the book, but the majority of the story and how it went down was not enough for me to fully appreciate it whole.

This book has given me completely unrealistic expectations and made me cry multiple times. I don't love the twist at the end but everything else was so good I don't care.

Rootbound came heavily recommended from all my romance loving friends. It was a bonus that this gem was on kindle unlimited so WHY NOT!?!!?

Rootbound starts out so strong, with Tait working through grief. Grief for the life she thought was her happy ever after. Grief for the loss of her mother, and grief for the father she is so angry at for leaving.

Tait's talents lead her to a job shooting photography on the ranch that's now the main backdrop for the most popular show on tv... it's also the ranch owned by the father she hold so much resentment for.
But a job is a job, and Tait is ready to do all she can to avoid her past.

But everything gets a little complicated when you throw in a little love, doesn't it?

This story is for:
-mending broken pasts/finding family
-falling in love with cowboys built like Thor
-friends to lovers trop lovers
-skinny dipping, bonfire lovin', horseback ridin' enthusiasts
-if you love HEAs with a little extra surprise 
-toe curl flirting that you won't forget

This book came at the perfect time for me. 
I loved the simple wild and Rootbound had a similar story of healing with the rustic background.
I promise you won't regret it.
