A thriller with so many twist and turns your head will spin. A must read!

I really enjoyed this and I read it quickly. I didn't want to put it down. I have an unnatural interest in police procedure, so I'm actually still pretty intrigued by the stuff other readers find boring in thrillers. The build up, the calm before the storm, the repetitive "find the bomb" mini plotlines. I found all of that interesting because it revealed more about the story and I was able to solve part of the mystery without feeling like I was able to just guess. It was such a huge task to take on, but I feel the author was able to do it justice and still get his points across. I just really enjoyed it.

I believe someone else said this - the premise of the story is good, but the tone and writing is odd and doesn't capture what the actual events are. It's like being tied to a car bumper and getting dragged along for the ride without any warning or context, and it just hurts in the end. In hindsight, the strange, choppy sentences and the idea that the protagonist is screaming at himself like a madman actually makes sense, but until the actual story is figured out it comes off as misplaced. Even with Samantha not being what we expect, why is Jennifer the way she is, too? Unnecessarily emotionally involved with him, and that ending? Too much. Now the car dragging you gets into a messy mash of metal, a car crash, and we're sitting on the curb smoking, trying to figure out if we could predict this. This is a book club choice, so I'm looking forward to hashing this one out. Normally I'm a fan of unreliable narrators, but I'm still musing on how I feel about it.
