First of all, congratulations to the author for their debut novel! And thank you NetGalley for providing me an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

A book about fallen angels with a curse that only one person can break? Sign me up! Temper the Flame is a NA book exactly about that. This novel is well written and the premise is an excellent one. 

That being said, I did a few issues with the book and didn't love it as much as I thought I was. Ivy was giving me a "not like the other girls" vibes and after a while, it got pretty annoying. Like the first chapter that started it all with a bang? She was so indifferent and it put me off how indifferent she was towards the situation. (view spoiler)[ like a guy is just dying on the floor at the retail store and you just can't be bothered?  (hide spoiler)] Another thing was the instant horny-ness with Ivy and Dev. I don't want to call it instant love, because Ivy was pretty much checking out Dev 24/7, and again after a while, it got pretty annoying. Don't you have some training to do? Yeah, stop checking out the dude and get to it. 

The pacing of the story also felt a bit off, we have a bit of a slow start, and then towards the end of the book, everything moves so fast. Also, why is just Hades just casually thrown about the story? Where are the other Greek gods? I'm not sure if this was done on purpose and it's just a setup for the next book in the series, but it just didn't make sense to me. 

While this book didn't work for me personally, don't let it discourage you from picking the book up once it releases. It's a solid debut book and I think a lot of readers will enjoy it.
