Ehhh… not a hit for me. Good writing and suspenseful <spoiler> I didn’t see that Laura would be an unreliable narrator until further into the book and that David was actually Olly until her husband Tony told Ryan. </spoiler> Will definitely pick up more from Marrs.

the concept is absolutely amazing but the execution wasn’t the best. the story had some really strong plot points but it got slow and predictable too often.

You think Laura is a good woman, with her picture perfect life, volunteering at End Of The Line, for people who have lost hope.
However Laura is manipulative and uses her job to find vulnerable people to talk into suicide, to kill themselves while she talks to them on the phone with her. She wants their last moments to be with her.
This book starts off with Laura helping a pregnant woman take her own life, leaving the woman's grieving husband looking for answers, why would his wife take her own life when she had only 2 months till giving birth. Then he finds Laura.
And from there becomes a game of cat and mouse.

Reading the first half of this book, i had predictions I wasn't going to enjoy this book, the first part of the story that focuses on Laura alone, was purely boring. I was thinking 'What is the point of the story?'
But things start to pick up in the second part of the story when Laura's true colours come out and you realise how bat-shit crazy Laura really is. And the book took some unexpected turns.
Ii feel like when Laura's past was revealed and how it was told i felt like it was done poorly.

However I would recommend this book to people if they like reading from hateful, evil characters who have no remorse for what they do.

AMAZING AND SHOW STOPPING

i literally have no words other than how disturbing this book is but at the same time u cant put this down, it should have come with some trigger warning too but holy shit i was literally holding my breath through the last chapers.. i enjoy this book very much, all the plot twists are amazing and the premise itself is very interesting as u can see. i loathed myself because throughout the first chapters i believed everything laura's said when i finally knew the truth and all i could think of was what the actual fuck is happening????

This is one twisted book. Laura works a suicide prevention call center. Ryan, who's wife called the center. This is how the paths meet and insanity begins. I did not like Laura at all, she was just unlikable all the way thru. Ryan, I liked and disliked. But, I definitely recommend the book. So good Had so many twists and turns.

I like how John Marrs' stories are always about ethical, and shocking societal issues. This book is so freaking good (like all his work tbh) and is sooo binge worthy. And STILL, the author manages to add plot twists after plot twist, and they all still take me by surprise. You know, the kind of revelations that feel like a cold bucket of water was dumped on your head. Soooo good!

Laura is soooo so good at convincing herself and the readers that she's completely sane. And then when you hear another side to her story.... HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
