A collection of stories, so some I enjoyed more than others. I overall thought this horror was intriguing and you can see that Machen was an inspiration for H.P. Lovecraft as the "unseen horror" element is very present. But I rated it only a 3.5 because I subjectively find the prose of the era to be a bit difficult to get through and my reading of this book dragged on for far too long. The Three Imposters may have been my favorite story, but I wish I had read it in fewer sittings, as it becomes a complex web quicker than I bargained for.
