Being a Harry Bosch series fan, this book is my favorite so far. In this entry, Connelly reveals one of Harry's most important incidents that shaped his life and career, the murder of his mother. The book events and encounters are dark and emotional as we see Harry's past cut through him, leaving a beautiful and meaningful story that adds much depth to the characters in the books that come after in the series.

Slightly weaker than the last bunch but boy does it pick up in the end. A better editor could have helped the book, made it a bit leaner and meaner perhaps.
