Such a sad, sweet little children's story. And the art reminded me of all the books I read when I was younger. This is one I'll be reading to my nieces often.

This is only a very short book, so the review will be short too. It's based on the fairytale Little Red Riding Hood (as you may have guessed from the title). It's a beautifully illustrated novel, with a really sweet message about love and friendship between humans and animals.

It follows a similar story to the original fairytale, but where the child captures the little wolf while he is delivering a rabbit to his hungry old grandmother. The child sings a song, which is gorgeously illustrated by Fléchais, which tells the tale of a woman and man falling in love, but the man then losing his wife to wolves. This, she says, is why her and her father hunt and kill wolves - because they are evil beasts that bring nothing but pain.

The little red wolf's father comes to the rescue - without killing the girl or her father - and tells his son about the version of the song he knows - where the woman is friends with the wolves, weaving them capes (like the one the little red wolf wears) and the man accidentally shoots her himself. I found this to be really quite touching, and I really did like this interpretation of the fairytale.

I don't think the chapters were necessary for such a short book - they didn't mark the end of a "chapter" in any way for me, but just felt like they'd been randomly placed throughout the story.

Overall, this is definitely a lovely story for children to read, even if it is a little sad. The art was really lovely, and it told the story beautifully. 4 stars.

Este es un de los libros más bonitos que he podido leer, la acuarela en la historia le da una sensación bastante siniestra a esta historia que empieza bastante inocente.

Obviamente es una retelling de La Caperucita Roja, me ha gustado como las partes más recordadas de la historia es usado, el “para verte y comerte mejor” están, solo que con un twist bastante irónico. Es interesante de ver como la historia se acopla al narrador, cambiando de estilo de dibujo cuando se cambia de voz en algún momento.

Si me hubieran leído The Little Red Wolf cuando era niña, habría terminado obsesionada con la historia, llega a ser melancólica y siniestra en niveles exactos.

The artwork is GORGEOUS in this book and this is a very interesting retelling of the classic Little Red Riding Hood. Might be a little dark for some kiddos . . . in the sense that it would prompt questions from the kid and the parent may or may not want to try telling the kids whats really going on or what certain aspects of the story mean. But, I leave that up for parents to decide. :)

A profound and original take on the tale of Little Red Riding Hood told from the perspective of a little wolf, who happens to be hunted by humans. 
The Little Red Wolf allows the readers to see through the eyes of the animals how they are constantly being threatened by the actions of humans in their search for food, clothes or even fun. 
With colorful and stunning illustrations, the tale of The Little Wolf makes an attempt at showing the other side of the story, and how most of the times, there's more to it than meets the eye.

This book was so fun! It was a great juxtaposition of the traditional Red Ridinghood story. The art is beautiful, the story delightful, and its great for readers both young and old.

Fairy tale retellings are always my favorite, especially if it a beautifully illustrated twisted take on the beloved Little Red Riding Hood , so this tiny book did not disappoint at all, with it's astonishing artwork , interesting plot that kept me thinking and entertained to the very last page, definitely will be picking up more books by Amélie Fléchais in the future .

The illustrations in this book are magical. The storyline is so typically fairytale like with a gorgeously penned moral at the end. The twist to the original story is wonderful and I just love it so much. 

This is what modern fairytales should be like. Not this silly mojo where everyone gets a happy ending. 

The illustrations are so fantastically beautiful. I spent so long reading this book just cos I was enjoying all the extra creatures and the backgrounds and just how damn adorable that wolf in the red cape is. 

And I truly adore this retelling. Every story has two sides. Brilliant moral basis. Brilliantly executed. 

The magic exudes from this book while still seeming completely grounded and relevant. A fantastic read, even for an old grump like me. 138% will buy it if I see it in a store.
