I devoured this book on audio this week commuting to and from work and it was so freaking GOOD, I took the long way home most days because I couldn’t get enough of Vinna and her newfound coven!!

The Lost and the Chosen was Ivy Asher’s debut novel and her talent absolutely blows my mind. Vinna, the twins--Bastien and Valen, Knox, Ryker, and Sabin are each characterized in unique ways and I am so eager to find out where the journey takes them next. This is a medium burn reverse harem, so I am loving the build up to all the spice I'm sure awaits in the sequels!!

One thing's for sure damn sure y'all, I’m in this series for the long haul—catch me binging the rest of the series on audiobook this summer. So glad it’s a completed and I won’t have to wait on any agonizing cliffhangers!!

THE LOST AND THE CHOSEN is a fantastic introduction to the Lost Sentinel series. While it’s a bit slower on the action, the author really took her time to flesh out her world building, the magic system and in introducing all of the elements to the overarching plot of the series. In doing so, we spend a lot of time with the protagonist, Vinna, and by the end of the book I felt like I’d known her for a lifetime. She’s exactly the kind of character I love: headstrong, confident, snarky, but with a layer of vulnerability and an underlying desire to find her place in this world. I found her extremely relatable, but that doesn’t surprise me. Ivy Asher never leads me astray with her kickass female leads.

The Lost and the Chosen also introduces a reverse harem romance. This one is of the kind I like, where the members have strong relations with one another and aren’t just united by their love for the female MC. The harem boys belong to the same coven (for now at least, though I’m getting some vibes with a certain outsider…*interest intensifies*), and I loved them as a unit even before the romance with Vinna began! In some aspects though, I felt like things moved a little too quickly. I would have liked to have some deeper early interactions with the entire group, and for more individual moments with Vinna and each of the boys in order to solidify the bonds and better differentiate the men. However, I still enjoyed what we got, and am certain I will become obsessed as the series progresses!

Wow, another awesome Ivy Asher series! Last year I read and loved The Osseous Chronicles and it was one of my favorite discoveries of the year. Now I had the opportunity to read the first book in the author’s first series—and it’s a reverse harem, which is a genre that I’m only now scratching the surface of but that I’m really enjoying.

As far as characters go, they were all great. Vinna was amazing, sassy and kickass but also vulnerable in some points. There was a part of the book where I was almost in tears because of how sad and alone she felt. I could totally picture Vinna being Lennox’s little sister. (Lennox is the protagonist in the Osseous Chronicles.) I also loved the boys, who were fun and swoon-worthy. I still haven’t figured out who I like best. For now, I’m torn between the twins and Ryker. I’m looking forward to getting to know them better in the following books and to pick apart their singularities better so that I can officially declare which boy I like most. (Who am I kidding, it’ll always be hard!)

This book sets up the storyline for the series well. There’s a mystery concerning Vinna’s powers—so cool and unlike everything I’ve seen before—what she is, what she can do, and who wants to take advantage of all those things. The world of the casters was very interesting as well. I was intrigued by the coven politics, the paladin, the magic, and their polyamorous society.

I read this and was completely hooked, if you like RH books and paranormal, there is absolutely no way you’re not going to at least like this book.

I put this off forever because I didn't like the cover 🙈 I am aware that I’m an idiot. If you like paranormal RH you will love this. Every if you just read regular fantasy romance or something you will love this. So good
