Era da tanto che non mi accadeva più, ma finalmente una volta finito di leggere questo libro il mio primo pensiero è stato.. devo avere il seguito. 
La storia parte un pò a rilento, un pò troppo a rilento forse dato che finchè Sonea non viene catturata dai Maghi si ripetono sempre le stesse cose (scappa di qua, scappa di là, nasconditi, ecc) ma una volta nella Corporazione la storia prende letteralmente vita. 
I personaggi descritti sono interessanti, tanto da far venire voglia di sapere di più sul loro conto, l'unica che non mi ha convinto è proprio Sonea che mi è sembrata sempre piuttosto piatta e non mi ha dato l'impressione di maturare per niente alla fine del libro. Oltretutto la bambina povera che è naturalmente più potente di ogni mago (potendo anche di quelli che hanno alle spalle anni ed anni di studio) non è facile da mandare giù e sa molto di complesso da Mary-sue (i protagonisti "normali" e umani non riescono mai a farli eh? devono sempre essere perfetti in un modo o nell'altro). 
L'inizio di una trilogia davvero interessante, scritta bene e che merita di essere letta.

This book has been on my radar probably ever since it was first published, and on my shelf for about half that time too. The story is fairly simple, and there's definitely room for fleshing out the characters, but the way I've looked at it is I've just finished the first third of a compete story. So, these failings are forgivable. What got me hooked though, and the reason I will keep reading are two things. Firstly, the relationships between the main set of characters were special, something you could really believe in, even if you didn't know those characters as well as you could. The second is that, there were enough seeds scattered for future plot developments, that despite one arc having finished, there's enough intrigue to urge me to continue. I believe the second two books are improvements in the first, and personally I'm looking forward to finding out if that is the case!
