I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Tuchman selected 5 separate historical time periods to analyze how various factors contributed to the folly of the actor in power during those particular time periods. Through this Tuchman creates a masterful piece of comparative history that both gives the layperson an overview of the events of the time period and crafts insights into the possible explanations for why things culminated the way they did. 
School has prevented me from giving this as accurate and timely a review as I hoped but perhaps during the summer I will have more time to write more in depth reviews.
