The interesting part of this book is not the predictions, but the approach that looks at the core motivations of a country, corporation or group of people - namely, basic survival. I'm lucky enough to have been born in a place and time where basic survival from economic or military threats was not an issue. It's helpful to be reminded how unique that is in history. 

This book is a library book at best. There's lots of future warfare and space war stuff that doesn't do much for me. I'm also a bit uncomfortable with some of his vast generalizations about economic / political history.

An interesting read on the possible scenarios of the future mainly around geopolitics. It provides good context on the current state of USA (the lone superpower) and the possible contenders. Two misgivings about the book - it was written in 2008 so a bit dated now and some assumptions of 2015 havent happened as predicted. The other is that the author downplays the role of China, India and Indonesia (3 largest populations) in the future on the basis that they wont have a great/significant role in the geopolitics of the world. So in essence it really predicts the role of the US in future.

Nevertheless a worthy read because it expands your mind in a different way.
