The Other Wife is an average thriller. It's not the most mind-blowing I've read, but it's not a bad book either. It's time well spent. The first 20% of the book was very intriguing. It promises secrets and plot twists that sadly didn't last long. The mysteries surrounding the characters are revealed to the reader sooner than I was expecting and change the type of story. It becomes about the characters instead of their secrets. However, I prefer to be kept in the dark for as long as possible.

The two female main characters were something. Nora was my favourite. Unhinged women are always a great pairing with thrillers. And Suzy is a hard one to like. She's trying to convince herself and everyone else that she's someone she's not. She wants to be a "good girl" but her actions don't add up. And it's frustrating to follow her along trying to pretend she's good instead of joining the dark side. Despite that, I liked the friendship between these two women.

The story develops slowly since its focus is on the relationship between these two women. Because of this, it's important to enjoy following these characters. I did to some extent, but I wished the story was told differently. That the secrets were kept for longer becoming big plot twists.

Suzi and Nick live in a secluded are, both hiding secrets. Nora has moved in next in next door, Suzi is excited to have another person around but Nora has her own secrets. She knows who Suzi is and knows the secret that could ruin Suzi and Nicks marriage. 

A quick and enjoyable thriller that keeps you on your toes trying to guess how everything to connected. 
I had trouble rating this one because 3 stars seems to low but it didn’t quite reach 4 stars for me.

This was a fast paced thrilling book with twists and turns. I feel like the major twist in the middle of the book wasn’t enough of a twist, I could see it coming a mile off. But that being said, the book didn’t end the way I thought it would and I really liked that. 

The characters were unlikeable but in a good way and while there were parts where I really had to suspend belief in order to take what the book was offering... it was good fun! Dark but interesting. 

I haven’t read from Claire McGowan before but I have read Eva Woods and I will carry on reading both for sure!

It started to become an internal joke to me that this book should an alternative title relating to the toxicity that almost all the characters and their relationships were. The book is actually really good because of this, the author gives us a bunch of people that can be considered, in some aspects, the scum of the society, we have cheaters, abusive partners, liars, blackmailers, etc. My biggest problem with this book is that it had too many plots twists, which made the book dull in some parts. The book is narrated in 1st person by a different character, being they all women with their different points of view and perspective in the story. The writing was the best part of the book and it made even the dullest parts barebow. The only thing I can really say about the end with not giving any spoiler is that it was really satisfying.
