One of my favorite graphic novel series of all time. Again, I sound like a broken record but the art style, diversity and representation, characters, story messages, pacing, impact, and everything else is absolutely top-tier. Drop what you are doing and read these now.

The main story focuses on the friendship between Rinn and a dragon named Aedhan. Rinn discovers Aedhan in some ancient ruins. Aedhan was expecting to attend the local annual festival only to find that eighty years have passed.

Through their friendship, Rinn helps Aedhan work through the trauma of having lost eight decades to a sleeping curse. They also help recognize the source of a lingering mystery in the nearby forest.

Just finish my finals for today and then knowing that next week I'm gonna be back again, is making me stress and having this irrational fear of wasting my time. I feel like I should study more, study hard, but I know I needed to make time for myself. So when I remember that The Team Dragon Festival is on my Dec TBR, this is a way to start reading again. And I choose right. I love at how it's easy for me to come back to this world and fall in love again. This book is everything good that if one day I have children, I would be reading this first to them and over and over.

I love the diversity that were shown here. This time Katie O'Neill adds sign language as a new addition to the stories. Everyone that I know in this book is all nothing but great people, generous, and care for each other. I would want to be living in this world, too. Oh, I wish.

And now I realize that I will never have enough Tea Dragon and I will never get tired of Katie O'Neill's works. You've done so amazing, Katie O'Neill!

Another cozy graphic novel with dragons and tea dragons which I loved. The illustrations were stunning and I loved that we got to know more about the characters in this new installment. These graphic novels are so wholesome and sweet, they're fun and easy to read and the drawings are beautiful

I love this world and this books , The Tea Dragon Festival is so wholesome and amazing, I love that we can see characters that we know :Erik and Hesekiel , but also new ones : Rinn who meets a dragon named Aedhan, both are so beautifully drawn and written.

The representation in this book is gorgeous, obviously we have m/m Erik and Hesekiel´s relationship, Rinn being nonbinary/genderfluid and there´s even sign language, I´m seriously in love.

And the art, the colors add an amazing magical and cozy feeling, the dragons, including Aedhan are so cute. 

I´m starting the third book now

I was so happy to be back in this comfy world again. This book was like coming home. I was delighted to see familiar faces and happy to meet the new various characters being introduced into the storyline. The Tea Dragon Festival includes a non-binary lead, a genderfluid supporting character and other diverse characters. There is also disability rep displayed by a character who is hearing impaired. The sign language was represented and handled so beautifully, educationally and respectfully. 

An informative ASL guide and other related resources are featured at the end of the book as well! This heart-warming graphic novel is filled with inclusion and is such a welcome and much needed addition to bookshelves. You can tell the art was drawn with love and the story reads like a warm hug feels.



This fable is what I consider to be a sort of prequel to The Tea Dragon Society. In this endearing venture we are back with the beloved bounty hunting couple (pre-retirement), Hesekiel and Erik. We however mostly follow the newly introduced charming, lovable and non-binary character, Rinn. Rinn is the nibling of Erik and unlike Greta, from The Tea Dragon Society, they have grown up with Tea Dragons and have mastered their care. 

Rinn shares their home with their Grandmother and their little sister, in a picturesque mountain village surrounded by a cast of colorful neighbors and yes of course, adorable tea dragons too. One day, Rinn and their little tea dragon companion go out hunting for mushrooms and other ingredients for them and their friends. As they head through the woods gathering, the trail becomes too difficult to traverse so they decide to cut out a path. They then, stumble upon an abandoned house. They decide to explore it further and to their shock they find a REAL great golden dragon. 



Rinn is hesitant because of the dragons behemoth size compared to them and their small friend. Rinn's tea dragon unexpectedly makes a loud thump and wakes the giant dragon. Startled, Rinn and their buddy attempt to flee but the dragon gently grasps Rinn’s arm pulling them back. When Rinn turns to look at the dragon, they have transformed into a humanoid dragon hybrid. 

The creature introduces themselves as Aedhan. Aedhan shares that they are able to shapeshift into either gender and Rinn expresses their yearning to be able to do the same. Aedhan asks Rinn if they are there to take them to the Barley Festival. The only problem is that the Barley Festival took place 80 years ago. 

Which leads to the realization that Aedhan had been in a deep 80 year long slumber. Aedhan explains that they were assigned the role of Village protector but fell asleep in the woods. It is a mystery as to why Aedhan slept for so long. Aedhan is stricken by the loss of time and the journey is Rinn helping them find acceptance. 



Rinn takes Aedhan to meet their uncle, Erik and partner Hesekiel. After hearing Aedhan’s story Erik and Hesekiel decide to attempt solving the mystery and hope to find the culprit that caused Aedhan’s extra long nap. In the meantime, Rinn invites Aedhan to The Festival of Tea Dragons. The two begin preparations for the event. 

They meet the various family, friends and villagers. One of whom is Rinn’s hearing impaired friend, Lesa, for who the citizens of their mountain home learned ASL for after being born (*cries*). Throughout this charming tale we get to tag along with Rinn, Aedhan, and the rest of the cast's journey of friendship. Ultimately, this story has a great sense of community. It delves into the meaning of true friendship, the vitalness of finding acceptance within yourself, the worth of surrounding yourself with those who embrace you for who you are, the significance of knowing what's important to you and discovering the value of happiness and purpose.

I adored this story as much as  The Tea Dragon Society. It has a different feel to it, in my opinion. But, the story was just as good and the her illustration are seriously the cutest! Also, can I please have a tea dragon already?

In this one, you learn more about Erik and Hesekiel, but mainly Erik. This is the story of Erik's niece, Rinn and the village that she lives in. The way the village interacts and raises the tea dragons is a little different compared to Erik and Hesekiel's village. 

Rinn is a gatherer; she gathers ingredients for food for the village. One day on her outing, she discovers Aedhan, who is the sweetest dragon. I loved the friendship/dynamic between Rinn and Aedhan. Aedhan mysteriously fell asleep for eighty years and Rinn has to help him deal with the feeling that he has missed out on so much and has lost time that he can never get back. 

I really enjoyed the diverse rep within this story; this one includes ASL and I thought that was really cool. 

This was one of the most adorable and sweetest stories that I've read and I highly recommend it!

Also, this installment had a lot of really nice motivational / inspiring quotes that resonated a lot with me but, since i can´t put them all here, this is one i really liked (thought it was very wholesome & heartwarming): "It takes time, Rinn. That´s all there is to it. Time and hands to guide you until you are ready to let go of them"

Another beautiful and diverse entry in the Tea Dragon universe where living in love and harmony is the most important thing (oh, and tea and dragons!). The story is about friendship, and finding your purpose and it is just wonderful. Katie O'Neill's artwork is once again, fantastic.

Reading this story in 2020 acts as a sort of a healing balm as it has been a pretty dark year. Thank you Katie for writing this and helping me cope with 2020.

After reading The Tea Dragon Society, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the sequel. It's cute, funny, heartwarming, and absolutely adorable. Both volumes are super quick to read but are also packed with important life lessons.

I recommend this to everyone!
