Incredible book and writing !! The tiny bits of critics i had where destroyed by the ending. Well thought story line and characters, no useless dialogues or descriptions, a page turner. Et la bonne review cest pas parce qu'il est genevois ^^

Mega gut. Mega. Spannend, super Charaktere, total schönes Setting, ich kann mir alles bildhaft vorstellen, kein bisschen vorhersehbar, total viele Überraschungen und Last Minute changes, Buch im Buch im Buch. I'm in love. Passaré a ser Top 5 Lieblingsbuch.

This book was one of the greatest books I’ve ever read. At first I was wary to read it bc it had extremely mixed reviews on here with them seeming to lean more to the 1 star side. But after chapter 1 I was completely hooked. The book is very interesting. It very often switches POV so you really get to understand all the characters that are involved. And the ending! It was such a good ending the way they tied everything together. The last 70 or so pages I read with my mouth hanging to the floor because I was continually being shocked with what was being discovered in the investigation. Over all I loved this book and I would recommend it to anyone

WOW. That was an incredible ride. Seriously, I just finished that 2 min. ago and I knew I had to just rant about it! I was not expecting it to be that great! After all the reviews I had read, and there were plenty of mixed ones, I honestly thought I'd get bored but boy was I wrong.

This wonderful story is told by Marcus Goldman, the famous writer, a one hit wonder type of guy. He found his 5 min. of fame and he wanted to make it 10. The plot and story is told by switching from past and present, flash backs to the current events. I found this pretty cool and interesting. Thinking I'd for sure get confused, I was surprised that I didn't. It all made perfect sense, right down to the fast switching dates and years. Very well written in that sense.

The whole concept was so cool! It was a murder mystery yet it also indulged into Goldman's life and his mentor, Harry Quebert. The whole story definitely had this creepy factor about it, I mean the murder of a 15 year old beautiful, coveted girl, just screams creepy. Add a mysterious disappearance and that the famous master and friend of our main character, isn't all that innocent either. Hence the title. As the plot thickens, you really only see it through Goldman's eyes and well, since he's the reporter/writer of the story, not everyone is telling him the truth nor giving him the full backstory. SO we can't really rely on the information we're given, to be correct. Which, obviously having said that, is EXACTLY what happened. 

The ending was a bunch of confusingness, I definitely didn't know what was going on haha but, literally the last 2 pages.. everything clicked. I WAS SO SHOCKED GUYS. I couldn't believe it. Definitely, VERY unexpected. 

This book brought a whole new level of shocking endings. Definitely did not see any of that coming. Great job, Joel Dicker! I loved it!!

           Got to a chapter entitled “Is if possible to fall in love with a fifteen year old girl” and had to give up. Was reduced to reading the plot summary online and I will not be picking this book back up. Are we supposed to sympathise with a grown man who thinks he’s in love with a *child* for 600 pages?? I’m good but go off Joel!! 
Also I found the writing and dialogue kind of boring and flat. Could have been the translation though. If I learn French maybe I’ll try again…

           Visto che l'ho divorato e mi ha fatta stare incollata alle pagine per giorni posso dire che merita le quattro stelle. 
Come libro non è spettacolare, ma è intrigante e appassiona. E' vero che Marcus come protagonista non è favoloso ( non è nemmeno così pessimo come lo hanno ritratto alcuni però ) ma i colpi di scena ripetuti fino all'ultimo capitolo mi hanno fatta restare sveglia a leggere fino a tardi la sera per diversi giorni.
Le mie teorie su chi fosse il colpevole cambiavano in continuazione, e devo ammettere che anche se di solito indovino il colpevole, questa volta non ci sono proprio riuscita.
La verità su Nola poi non era proprio indovinabile, nè quella su Harry. Comunque un bel libro.

Desde que comencé a leer este libro estaba convencida de que le otorgaría las cinco estrellas y de que por fin añadiría un nuevo título a mi lista de favoritos. Sobre todo tratándose del género que más me gusta; sí que vale la pena y es de lo mejor que he leído en cuanto a novela negra se refiere.
No obstante, a medida que avanzaba empecé a notar ciertos agujeros en la trama que, fuera de los que sí tenían un propósito, me causaron cierta incomodidad. Dudé por instantes de algunos cabos sueltos, de algunos detalles que no tenían mucho sentido, pero ya en la segunda mitad del libro, me dije que por primera vez esto no me importaría. Fue golpe tras golpe hasta el final, cada descubrimiento era más explosivo que el anterior, y el caso fue todo un laberinto imposible lleno de incógnitas y muchísimo misterio (además del romance, claro, había romance). Los plot twists escandalosos fueron los que contrarrestaron estos pequeños errores de trama.

En fin, que me encantó. La manera en que está organizado el libro en tres tiempos fue perfecto y cada vez que se descubría un nuevo secreto era inevitable tener un sospechoso diferente. La historia nunca perdió fuerza y siempre se mantuvo en suspenso, equilibrando, por supuesto, el tiempo de Nola-Harry, el tiempo de Marcus-Harry, y el presente, durante el caso Harry Quebert. Fue una narración simpática y aunque la mayoría de los personajes se me hizo insufrible si no planos y/o apáticos, creo que el premio se lo llevó Marcus por sus maneras de actuar (aunque a veces no tenía mucho sentido).
Desde el principio sospeché que sucedía algo malo con Nola, primero me generó muchas dudas, después me produjo mucho rechazo, y luego logré comprender todo, pero no por esto llegué a tomarle cariño como personaje y menos a justificarla, a veces no la soportaba. Por el que sí desarrolle cierto afecto fue Luther Caleb, este hombre me recordó mucho a un Frankestein, rechazado por algo de lo que no tenía la culpa y maltratado hasta el final a pesar de haber sido tan bueno. Me dio mucha tristeza su destino, sobre todo al conocer el origen de su condición, me fascinó este personaje.
Fue bueno leer cómo todos los personajes estaban relacionados en al menos un punto de sus vidas. Cómo se entrelazaban las historias y se descubrían así misterios del caso me maravilló.

En fin, le doy 4.5. Fue un libro estupendo.
