Borrowed this book from my childhood bedroom and reread it this afternoon! Before I read Harry Potter, I read the Worst Witch series. I loved these books. This one is short and simple, but in a fun and relatable way. I’m honestly really glad to have it back on my bookshelves.

I love this little book! It was one of my favorites as a kid, before I even read Harry Potter, and I’m happy to say that it holds up as an adult as well! It’s short and succinct and does a good job establishing the characters. A very nice cozy read.

I grew up watch The Worst Witch TV show and loved it so much but I had no idea it was based on a book series. All the yes. I love this series!

This was so cute and enjoyable. I watched the Netflix series and knew I had to read the books. All I can say that I wished was better is that I wish there was more backstory on the character, plotline, how things started to happen, more backstory on the world, and on how Mildred came across the school and her first homelife. I have to say, I loved the show more than this book and I know people will call me out for that but It is true and my opinion. I will definitely want to continue the series though. I still really enjoyed it. I think if I was the targetted age for this story then I would've enjoyed it more. But overall very solid, cute enjoyable read.

Poor Mildred's struggles, with the author's own hilarious illustrations of the young witches (complete with black gymslips and hobnailed boots), makes a wonderfully funny story which everyone who loves witches and hates school is bound to enjoy.
