Firstly, I'd like to state that I had absolutely NO idea what this book was about going into it. I had been browsing the used shelves at Hastings and this one was super cheap and the back sounded interesting so I picked it up. Little did I know I would be delving into a christian young adult novel. And that I'd actually enjoy it.
The characters, while I felt could use a little more character development, were amazing. I loved the main love interest (no surprise there) and I also really enjoyed the lead protagonist's voice. I did wish for a little more background from her though; a bit more info on where she came from and such. But that was really the only problem I had. This was nicely written and dealt with some pretty intense issues that I was not expecting. And I didn't feel like the aspect of God was pushed or forced. It added to the story in a completely different way and I am very pleased with my first christian YA experience. That being said, this was definitely not the best book ever but it was nice and simple and easy to follow. The love interest was refreshing and the setting, in Ireland, was definitely my favorite part. I could practically imagine I was there myself. Ireland is my #1 place I want to visit and it was just so FUN to read about a story happening there.
So, if you have a spare moment for a fast read, or need to take a break between certain intense series, try this out. You just might enjoy it as I did.
