This seems like a return to the world of Altered Carbon with mercenaries for hire taking on dangerous missions and screwing with the local police (literally and figuratively). Some of Morgan’s earlier themes are pushed further including what might happen if there is a real schism with fundamentalists, and if we advance human “engineering” but aren’t happy with the results. It’s a dangerous world(s) and you don’t know whom to trust. At least our hero has a strong moral code... of a sort. A long, intricate plot with a ton of action.
