I LOVED this book! It’s a different type of mafia book, softer, if that makes sense.
Usually I find mafia books abrupt, harsh, but this wasn’t. I was expecting it to be a bit dark, as I feel Tijan’s books can be sometime, but I’m SO happy this wasn’t.
Kai is a beautiful character. He wants so much more than what he is and his love for his family is incredible.
Riley is awesome. She’s strong and doesn’t have the usual hauntedness Tijan’s female characters have. 
The story flowed beautifully and I loved how the characters developed.
Again, this was a great book, give it a go!

As with any book by Tijan, I am always blown away by the sheer level of excitement her books bring to the table. I'm going to be honest, mafia-themed books aren't my favorite genre to read. Yet this is a book by the amazingly talented Tijan so I was 100% willing to give it a shot. And man am I glad I did. 

I loved everything about this book. I read quite a few books every month and for one to stand out to me, it has to be gosh-darn amazing. This book was that stand-out book for me this month. The characters, the plot, the twists and turns, everything in this book spoke to me. In true Tijan fashion, she has created something that blew my mind and left me with quite the book hangover. But no regrets here. 

Read this book! You won't be disappointed because this author crafts masterpieces, no matter how insane and entangled they get. Every character in this book throws in a surprise that I'm still not over. I never knew what secret would be released next and how it would impact the relationships between the characters. I don't want to give anything away since the surprises are usually the best part of the book but man does this one drop quite a few bombs on the reader. Just when I thought I had everything figured out and could guess what the characters would do next... BAM! It turns out completely different and goes in direction I never could have guessed. 

And these aren't your usual characters. There is no princess in this book waiting to be saved by the dark knight, instead there is a ring of masterminds who are each crafting a way to get the ending they want while trying to control each other. The true plot is which one of these characters gets their way. I loved what each character brought to the story and how they added influence to the plot that was unexpected. No character is completely innocent in this story and I LOVED IT. Even the most seemingly simple characters had something to hide. 

So read this book. You will not regret a moment of your time spent learning about this little world Tijan has created and the characters that fill it.
