IMPROVEMENT.

Things I Liked:
Somehow, even after the atrocious set up from book one, the time travel started to make a LITTLE more sense.

Kaleb. Kaleb. Kaleb Kaleb Kaleb.

Em. I like her better as a side character.

The romance. I am TOTALLY into Kaleb and Lily. All the WAY.

Ava. I’m surprised that I started liking her, especially as she only made three appearances, tops. 

The plot. Serious. Escalation, man. 

Things I didn’t like:
Jack. There is NO PERSON on this earth who is LITERALLY rotten to the core. I just can not believe that.

Um… yeah. Book two WAY better than book one.

so I finally picked up this book without really remembering what had happened in the first book. I guess I let too much time pass that i forgot what happened in the first one haha. Anyways, I didn't really understand the first few pages because I didn't know what was happening ^_^ but i went to the website that they have and refreshed my memory(:. Aside from that, I really like this book given in Kaleb's point of view.It gives us so much background of his family, his mom(: and Lily's family past. I totally liked the ending although it is a total shocker and also a major cliffhanger!!

The action takes an immediate step up as the crew from Hourglass encounter Jack at a Halloween party at The Phone Company (the popular restaurant owned and run by Emerson's brother Thomas and his wife)/ This time Kaleb Ballard flirt, empath and emotional wreck, takes the leading role as time begins to fall to pieces around them.

What I Liked: The new characters (Poe, Teague and more from Liam Ballard) were fantastic and the new insights into Lily and her grandmother keep you desperate for more. Kaleb might be a more dynamic protagonist than Emerson was with his desire for martyrdom when it comes to protecting his friends, while also combating his new and very real feelings for Lily.

The plot progresses quickly after the party at the Phone Company is interrupted and life is suddenly much more dangerous than ever for the Hourglass kids. This time failure will mean a death they can't prevent and even further deterioration of time. In Hourglass only Emerson and Michael could see the time rips, courtesy of their unique time shifting abilities, but with the break down of time after Emerson's daring rescue in the last book, anyone with the time gene can see a rip, and they're getting bigger.

Determined to go to any length to protect each other, and ultimately the world, from Jack's manipulations of time, Kaleb and the gang take dangerous chances without any real knowledge to keep them safe.

What I didn't Like: Ava. Who is this girly? It feels like she is just popping up to act as an annoying romantic antagonist even though none of the male leads have any real interest in her. Her pointless existence annoys me and I get the sinking feeling that Ava will be the protagonist in the final book, Infinity Glass.

I could also do without the one man band attitude of Liam Ballard. Mr I-keep-silent-to-protect-you knows that the Hourglass posse won't stop at his say so. He needs to talk to them and give them the knowledge that will keep them safe!

This book leaves you on a massive cliffhanger that'll have you eagerly awaiting 'Infinityglass' which will be released in 2013. 

...so, will we see another change in POV for the third and final instalment? (I'm betting on either Michael or Lily).

This book was good, but not amazing. With this book you read all the time from Kaleb's POV, you get to know him a lot better, his intentions, why he is the way he is and also a new interesting love interest with Lily. It was nice that this girl was Em's BFF but still I think it could have been more exploited. Although I loved her attitude towards Kaleb, I mean he is a player she can't just go running to him just like that. She was real, straightforward and a great friend with everyone. I liked the role she now plays in the story an we get to know a lot more about her. I was hoping for maybe some chapters in Em's or Michael's POV to see how their relationship was going but it was all Kaleb. You get little glimpses here and there about their problems and stuff but I would have liked more. The story also has some twists and turns that explain a lot of things and the meaning of what all the hourglass kids have to do. Overall it was a good book, hope the next one (comes out in a year) is even better.

Timepiece continues the story that began in Hourglass, but this time the story is being told from the point of view of Kaleb Ballard. I had a little trouble in the beginning of this book switching over from Emerson's point of view in Hourglass to Kaleb's, but after a while, the story became much easier to follow. 
At the beginning of this book, Kaleb insults Lily, Emerson's best friend, at a party, leading to growing animosity between them, but as the story continues, both find that they are drawn to each other and overcome their initial dislike of one another. 
The main characters are still looking for Jack Landers, who is doing more and more to disrupt the time continuum. All the characters from Hourglass start to see time "rips" causing strange scenes from the past to appear and become mixed with things happening in the present. Kaleb, Lily, Emerson, and Michael come to realize that their lives have been manipulated by Jack in order to bring them together so that he can use them to find the Infinityglass which supposedly holds the key to time itself, giving Jack the power that he craves. Kaleb must overcome his jealousy of Michael and his ability to read the emotions of others to help them thwart Jack's plans.
Overall, this was a good continuation of the story which concludes in Infinityglass.
