It's hard to describe this book. It isn't just a cookbook, nor just a book about learning. One thing is sure, it's HUGE. Mostly because it's perfectly disorganized. Because there are so many entertaining sections. Because there are so many personal anecdotes. Because there are so many pictures. Or just because it's so much fun to read (even if I'm glad not all books are like this 😅).

If you are curious about learning, the first part (~100 pages) is invaluable. If like me, cooking is now something you are passionate about, you can skim over the recipes and still enjoy the reading. Don't focus too much on the title. Focus on how much this book can feed you.

"I wrote this book to make you a master student of all things," declares Tim Ferris. "This book is not "the" truth, but it contains many truths as I've found them, and — even if they're not your truths — the process I teach can help you find yours." There are valuable lessons for all of us. We just need to find them and start experimenting.

TLDR: I've only perused the cooking parts and read the meta-learning section. Don't buy a cookbook, buy a manual on how to learn.

To be fair, I haven't "finished" this book. I don't know if I ever will. Because I didn't buy into the idea of a cookbook, I bought into the idea of a cookbook as an idea for learning how to learn. 

IMHO, the section on meta-learning alone is worth getting the book. I don't always agree with what Tim says or how he approaches problems (for example I think he has more willpower than most which renders his definition of lazy as different than mine, etc.). 

However, there is no doubt that he has a great, different, counterintuitive way of looking at learning which I appreciate. If his ideas on learning are mashed together with other experts on the subject and tweaked especially through the lens of habit formation... you can create an invaluable framework for being good enough at almost anything.
