The Fifth Generation Computer The Japanese Challenge

This study describes the aims and achievements of Japan's Fifth Generation Computer Project, a programme which combines the power of a wide range of computer technologies, including VLSI, computer architecture, software and artificial intelligence, in order to create a future generation of computers.
