From the very start of this book, you can read between the lines and know that these characters have a pretty dark past and some things that they definitely hadn't gotten over and is still affecting their day-to-day lives. And through a not-so-chance meeting but still kind of, Cassidy and Caleb meet and seem to help each other alleviate some of their demons. 

I really enjoyed a lot of the relationships that occurred in this book, and not just those between Cassidy and Caleb. Cassidy has this whole family of people who saved each other from some of their worst nightmares and created a new existence and life with each other. This family was so much fun to read about because they have a really unique way of communicating with each other and are a lot more open than the average family... a lot more open. Some of the most comedic moments came when this group of people came together and I know I had a lot of fun reading about the situations they managed to get themselves into. 

But a lot of the funny moments within this novel were heavily balanced by the more serious ones because this couple does have a past and some of the people from their past will make an appearance as they try and navigate their new relationship. What made this book really interesting is that even as it gave me cookie crumbles to follow that had me guessing every scenario I could come up with, there was still an element that was unsaid and therefore a mystery. 

Overall Free to Dream was a really great read that had balanced elements of comedy and anguish. The more I learned about Cassidy and Caleb, the more I wanted to learn and read about both their relationship and those that are close to them. In terms of a second book in this series, I can't decide if I would prefer another look into Cassidy and Caleb, or a continuation of the other family members falling in love.
