Honestly, I love Francine Rivers’ writing with all my heart.

She is so on FIRE for Christ and you can see that buried in her words.

This series is an interesting one that I would recommend to anyone who wants to learn more about the Bible and those stories about women. She puts her own twist on her versions on this story, but she doesn’t take out any truth to the story. What I mean by that is even though we don’t know it happened the way she wrote it, doesn’t mean it didn’t actually happen the way she wrote it. She didn’t take anything out of the Bible.

So this whole series is about women in the Bible that are in the line of Christ.

WOMEN.

That’s important because the Bible doesn’t talk about girls too often because back then all us women were good for is babies and sex.

Bathsheba… I am so sorry.

This is a story that Francine did a little more twist too. She starts off the book with Bathsheba as a young girl crushing hard on the up-and-coming king named David. She always had a thing for him, but he always just saw her as a little girl.

How devastating for her.

So imagine when her husband Uriah is off to war and the king you had a huge thing for at a young age comes out on his roof and sees you bathing there. What would you do? Probably what she does because I’m a bitter person sometimes: acts like you don’t see him and let him see what he is missing.

WHOOPS HE IS KING HE CAN DO WHAT HE PLEASES.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand he does.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand she gets pregnant. WHOOPS.

So David, being the God fearing soldier he is, fesses up and owns up to his mistake.

WRONG.

He makes things so much worse. He is the worst. I love David, but boy do I want to slap him when it comes to Bathsheba.

This story is very powerful.

I love how people think the Bible is about all these rules about our religion and really it’s about sex, war, death, and then Jesus
