This was a great series opener. I am always intrigued by crime thrillers but usually end up disappointed. This book did not leave me disappointed. The pacing is excellent. It covers exactly what we need to know. Not boring us but not leaving us hungry for more. Very impressed overall. I look forward to reading more Josie Quinn adventures.

Kept me up until 3:30 AM to finish it. A little more frightening than my usual read but it was loaned to me so I gave it a chance. I had to read the whole thing in one shot because I needed to know what happened next. 

I’ll be honest most of the characters are pretty terrible people, and the main character is relatively annoying, but the plot really propels this one.

Easy to read a detective story where you don't have to overuse your brain. The plot twist is simple but well written. If you don't count the "let's kill or at least try to kill, everyone that main character love or loved and irritating behaviour of the main character." 

Overall not that bad, but still could be better.

This mystery thriller of a novel captivated my attention when it began somewhere in the past, rather than starting in the present. The protagonist of this story is a female detective named, Josie, who has recently under investigation from an incident that occur while she was n duty. Already into a great start am I right? Already in the middle of something troubling when I started this novel and It’s one thing I like how the story goes. you just dive right in. You get to learn more about her in bits of pieces while trying to uncover the missing girls investigation.

Vanishing Girls is an exciting beginning to this new series. Josie Quinn is a very flawed character with a dark background, which just makes her all the more interesting as a protagonist. The author does not shy away from some of Josie's questionable methods or the consequences of her actions. While the suspense in the book is unrelenting, the climax of the story is a bit far-fetched, and comes well before the end of the book, leaving lengthy falling action to tie up loose ends. Overall, however, Vanishing Girls contains electrifying suspense that leads to a satisfying conclusion

Yeah I had about 80 pages of this left to read but I’m not gonna finish it. This book was already getting on my nerves and I just finally gave up on it after finding out what Ray did and how it is pretty much excused, treated like it wasn’t a big deal. The author pretty much gave him this sort of redemption arc but what he did was awful awful awful. What he did was disgusting so this book is, in my eyes, problematic. I don’t like rating books 1 star unless I found them to be somewhat problematic so there you go.

The MC was super unlikeable and flat. I wanted a layered character and I didn’t get that. Instead I got this sort of cliche detective character that we have seen a million times before but worse because she was annoying, unlikeable and problematic herself.

Also the comments made about other women were really distasteful especially for a book that came out not that long ago. There’s some serious internalized misogyny here. Why the need to pit women against other women? How about some women power, some support and some friendships?!
