I definitely cried a lot while reading this book. I may not have an eating disorder, but I understand what it's like when my social environment assumes that beauty comes from being slim, or even skinny. I can say that today's beauty standards are pretty crazy and scary. And I'm quite affected by it myself.

But reading this book felt like I was hit with the reality that what we actually need is just to love ourselves. We will never be able to live happily if we don't love ourselves, and loving ourselves is something that is very important for us to be able to move forward.

I really want to give a big hug for Val. Especially when she lost one of the most important person in her life. It must be hard. Besides her problems regarding her illness, she also had to struggle against pressure from her own mother as well as a huge loss. She deserve the whole world.

This book is truly filled with meaning of life, and it also has beautiful illustrations. Although I could read it in one sitting, I found it enough to make me cry loudly and feel empty.
