Georgiana Watkins is a party girl and Andrew Mulroney a robot. While she's always coming back home at 5 am he's leaving for work.

They are enemies since the day they both moved in and fought over a moving doc, but with every encounter, things start to change. Their relationship is funny, heartwarming, and with the right amount of angst for being so different from each other. 

It's perfect for every Disney happily ever after fans.

Maybe 3.5--rounding up because it's the first non-audiobook I've managed to finish in an age. Very adorable and enjoyable, but some of the stylistic choices felt off to me--namely that Andrew's POV scenes were in 3rd person while 80% of the book is Georgie's and in 1st? But otherwise a fun, light read with not-too-much-angst.

This isn't the first time I've gushed over a Lauren Layne book and something tells me it won't be the last either. I L-O-V-E-D this book. So much, in fact, that I was more than willing to stay up until nearly midnight reading it because I just couldn't get enough of Georgie and Andrew's banter, chemistry and utter amazingness together.

Georgie is easily one of my new favorite heroines and it's kind of surprising because I typically have a tough time dealing with "party girl" characters. Thankfully she was multi-dimensional and there was so much more to her than her party girl side. She was sassy, sweet and smart. My love for Andrew wasn't immediate, because he came off a little to stuffy for me at first, but when it hit, it hit hard. Together, however, they were amazing. I loved how they pushed each other's buttons and how their day felt off if they didn't have their usual 5:00 am sparring match. They had crazy chemistry, even when it seemed like they hated each other, so I couldn't wait to see what happened when they stopped pretending to dislike each other. They were, as Andrew would've said "perfectly ridiculous" and I enjoyed every moment, laugh and feel... and the sexy times, too. I'm a big fan of the enemies to lovers trope, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that I adored this book. 

If you're a fan of Lauren's books, you'll undoubtedly want to read this one ASAP. Even if you've never picked up one of her books, but you love romantic comedy, you need to get on this one. You won't be sorry. In fact, if you're anything like me, you'll have an ear-to-ear grin the entire time you're reading and a satisfied sigh when you're done. Utter perfection, IMHO.

I was wrong, I realize. First kisses aren't always a disappointment. Sometimes they're perfect from the very start. 

Apparently the man is fastidious and uptight in all things except this, because his kiss is unapologetic and carnal, disregarding the fact that we're in the middle of a sidewalk at the crack of dawn and that we don't even like each other. 

The man whose head moves insistently between my legs is nothing like the buttoned-up lawyer who has spent the past few months ignoring me. This man is raw and primal, his touch sure and possessive, as though every part of me is his and he's always known it.

I had to giggle at the title of this book. Everyone knows what a “Walk of Shame” is but I will refresh those who don’t know. The definition is taken from Urban Dictionary:

“Walk of Shame
The walk from another person(s) house, apartment, condo, dorm, van, bar, park bench or other; to your place of residence wearing the same clothes you had on the night before.

Typically used when someone leaves the home of a sexual escapade (quite possibly with someone you met the night before) in the morning; hair sticking out in all directions, lines on your face, and missing at least one article of clothing.

In the event that your “Walk of Shame” did include sex, you may be wearing your partner’s clothes. If you did not have sex you probably did get into a fight, damaged property was escorted off someone’s premises, or in some way embarrassed yourself. In any case, you will need to check yourself for injuries.

Still half-drunk, I began the walk of shame to my room and made a futile attempt to recall all that I had done on Friturday.”

So, based on the definition I put up and my own personal experiences with walks of shame, I really was expecting a book that started and ended with sex and didn’t really have a plot. But what I read, instead, really surprised me.
Georgi was a sweetheart….once you got past her party girl exterior. I was actually kind of put off by that at first because she was rolling in as most people were getting up and going to work. But her sweetness and her positive outlook on life won me over. Plus, she knew how to dish it and take it, like a pro. Her interactions with Andrew had me laughing my butt off and I loved the Wizard of Oz references.
I couldn’t get a handle on Andrew at first. Because the story is mainly told from Georgi’s perspective, I really didn’t know what he felt about her. Actually, I felt the vibe I got from him is that he thought she was annoying. So, I was pretty surprised when the author turned to 3rd person to tell his part of the story and when I learned that he had feelings for Georgi and had feelings for her since he met her. I did a “Whaaa” when I read that because it did kind of blindside me (and yes, I knew they were getting together….I can still be blindsided).
I loved the romance between Georgi and Andrew because it was more real life (forgetting that she was an heiress and he made money hand over fist). They were frenemies first, then true friends and then the romance kicked in. I loved it!!
What I liked, even more, was that the sex was put off on in the book. The author allowed for her characters to develop feelings for each other before they bumped uglies. It was refreshing to read that because the sex didn’t take over the book.
I did figure out the plot twist that added drama to the book. I actually figured it out as it was happening but still, it was sad to read and I felt bad for all involved.
The end of the book was great and I loved the happy endings for everyone involved!!
How many stars will I give Walk of Shame: 3.5 (rounded up to 4 for Goodreads and Amazon)

I'm not sure why but I've been REALLY into contemporaries lately so I just HAD to read this one when I saw it available to request on Netgalley.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this one.

You could literally feel the tension leaking off the two main characters. Georgie is a socialite who used her inheritance from her grandmother to get her apartment and Andrew is the top divorce lawyer in New York. What happens when opposites attract? Some very steamy scenes that I wish I was at least warned about.... There's not too many of them but keep that in mind when you read this one.

With any contemporary, there's always angst and I found myself wondering - for the second time this year - if I was setting myself up for an unhappy ending. Fortunately I can say that this ended happily ever after Disney style. ;)

The funny thing about Walk of Shame is that I found it on one of those interactive game apps. With a little too much free time on our hands a few weekends back, we downloaded all of said apps and are in the process of trying them all and writing up an official ranking of which are the best. I was quick to recognize Lauren Layne's name from other readers mentioning her work in passing so I settled in to give the story ago. 

Two chapters in and I realized I needed to ditch the game (temporarily) and buy the book. So, I did. I am beyond thrilled that I did because the novel itself is exactly what I was needing in real life and it reminded me that I really do enjoy specific types of romances. Walk of Shame included the variety of tropes that are necessary to keep my interest--but Lauren Layne makes these otherwise common traits and spins them into something fresh and fun. 

What makes this rom-com so appealing is not only the sparks found between our two leads, and their always sharp banter, is that I genuinely loved both of them for different reasons. They felt quite real and were thoroughly flawed, entertaining and wonderful. Lauren Layne's writing is crisp and quick to the point, leading readers into the relationship and easing us into the effect of falling in love. 

To summarize the novel: (1) OPPOSITES ATTRACT. There's chemistry. Clashing. Cuteness. And, of course, reluctant cuteness. (2) A lot of humor. It was subtle at times. No matter what, it had me go into little smirks and giggle fits. (3) Georgianna and Andrew basically invent the term enemies-to-lovers and now own the title. (4) PURE FUN.

Walk of Shame is smart, sexy, sweet and wholly unexpected. A definite must read for any romance fan. If you love Krista and Becca Ritchie, Kendall Ryan, Sally Thorne and Christina Lauren, you're going to adore Lauren Layne.
