Walk the Edge is a poignant, delightful and thrilling novel that will grab the readers attention right from the start.

Breanna is a very responsible, down-to-earth girl who starts getting blackmailed and she has no idea how to stop this without facing the consequences. Bre's life at home is already hell and now add to that a blackmail that she cannot handle. My only issue with this story was Bre's family. Her family's exasperating! They would neglect her except for when they needed something and even then, they wouldn't ask nicely! I debated lowering the rating I gave this book because of this irritating family. They got on my nerves and they riled me up. Their treatment for their daughter/sibling was horrendous. I mean, the parents should be the responsible ones and yet they dump everything on Breanna and don't even help her or defend her against her siblings. I know it's wrong but if I could kill all of that family, I would in a heartbeat.

Everyone says the same thing: Breanna's smart, she's quiet. On the inside, I'm not at all quiet. Most of the time, I'm screaming.

Razor is one of the members of the Terror motorcycle club. He's a very reserved person and only really talks when needed. For Razor to help out Breanna is a huge step for him and he's even surprised he offered. In return for Razor's kindness, Breanna sets out to find out what really happened to a family member of his because not even the club he belongs to has talked about it. They find solace in one another and together they go on a journey to figure out what to do with this whole mess.

There's an edginess inside me. something stirring like a cold front on the verge of colliding with warm air. Too many demons are hovering near me and the one thing that can release the pressure is a good fight.

Nowhere But Here was my first Katie McGarry's novel and it was a huge success. I was left wanting to know about Razor and I was surprised to have gotten access to this second book in the series. I enjoyed it so much. Razor and Breanna were so charming and kind of hilarious at times, especially when they met. We have Breanna who's prejudiced by who Razor is and Razor doesn't know if he should open up to Breanna or not. As the story goes on, both characters start to rely on each other and slowly start to form a relationship, which was slow and sweet.

Breanna transports me to all sorts of new places. It's not her physical proximity getting to me, it's the fact that she makes me feel.

The plot had me on edge! My heart was racing as I kept reading and I had no idea what would happen to Breanna and Razor. The blackmail reached a new level and I was gripping my kindle wanting to know where the story would go and if it would be satisfying at the end. Let me tell you it totally was! My heart broke for a few minutes and I was about to start yelling when the story took a different turn and it made me happy. The ending was ultimately gratifying and the author ended the story very nicely.

Such a good story! I really loved both the main characters in this book. It really captured my heart and was a fast read. I did love the girl alot and her "learning" challenges were unique. I love the presence of her big family and also the glimpse of the other thunder road characters! Excited for Violet story next!

  THE STORY:
 

  LISA
: Nowhere But Here was one of my very favorite reads last year. I instantly fell in love with Oz, the family feel of the Reign of Terror motorcycle club, and how they all stuck together through thick and thin. I was beyond eager to read Razor's story and see if he could live up to Oz in my heart. I have to say he didn't quite meet the Oz love that I have, but he got pretty darn close!

Razor has a less-than-ideal home life and is struggling through his senior year in high school. But it's not because he's not doing well in school... in fact, he's very intelligent. But his mother committed suicide when he was ten, leaving him alone with his father. Razor's relationship with his father is a bit strained, especially since he started bringing girls home who spent the night in his mother's bed, which he had promised Razor he wouldn't ever do. Razor is approached by a police officer who puts in his head that his mother's death may not be a suicide after all, and starts Razor's mind going a mile a minute, trying to figure out how, exactly, his mother died.

Breanna is the middle child of nine children (yes, NINE!!) and doesn't feel that her position in the family is what she would like it to be. She's not close to any of her siblings, and her role is much more similar to a parent's than a sister's. When she's confronted by an athlete who wants her to write his papers for him to help him achieve the grades he needs to stay on the football team, she's met with a horrible decision. He's blackmailing her... if she doesn't write his papers, he will reveal pictures that will put her on the radar of other students, bringing scrutiny and bullying her way.

Breanna and Razor decide to make a pact. Razor will become Breanna's body guard in a sense, and will help her track down the guys behind the blackmailing, and in return Breanna (and her photographic memory) will help Razor solve the puzzles that will answer his questions as to what, exactly, happened to his mother. An unlikely pair, you may think... but these two, together, added quite a bit of swooning to this intense story!

: Well I couldn't have explained this any better myself Lisa :) Great job! I listened to the Audio for Nowhere but Here later in the year last year, after Lisa raved about how amazing it was! I immediately fell in love with Oz and Emily and of course The Reign of Terror ;) I have been so excited about Razor's story ever since meeting him in Nowhere ut Here, although I loved Oz (A LOT!) I think that I may have actually liked Razor a bit more, so Lisa and I differ a little bit here :)
 
 
  THE CHARACTERS:
 

  BECCA
: Oh my goodness these characters! There was so much going on and so many of them! Between Breanna's family and all of her siblings and then Razor and his family the Terror and the students from high school I met so many people! The odd thing is, it TOTALLY worked! I did not have any trouble keeping characters straight or being confused about who they were speaking about. Katie McGarry did such an amazing job building the main characters as well as the secondary characters. I felt as though I had this huge family at the end and I loved them all!

I loved the insight we got into the Terror again, I felt as though we got a very clear picture in Nowhere but Here and even more so in Walk the Edge. Since we already know a lot about the club and how it works, I felt as though we got a more inside view and a better understanding of their history. I love these men and their gypsies and while I don't really understand it.. I am totally hooked! I cant believe there was ever a part of me that thought I wouldn't enjoy the motorcycle club element!

  

Now for Breanna's family, oh my I struggled with them! Breanna was such an outcast in her own home. As the 5th child out of 9, she is in this awkward middle place. She didn't fit in with her older sibling or her younger siblings and felt a lone all of the time. Her sister Clara, who was closest to her in age is especially resentful of Breanna. At one point I actually texted Lisa and said "I just can't deal with Breanna's family! Her sister is so mean!"

I will talk about Breanna and Razor below... I will say that I LOVED both of them so much!! They brought together such an amazing and versatile cast of characters!

: I agree, Becca... Breanna & Razor need a complete section allllll to themselves. ;)

I adored the addition of Breanna's HUGE family! They were chaotic and a total mess, but they seemed very realistic to me. I love stories with huge families, and this was no exception. Though it wasn't quite the family presence that I usually enjoy, in that they weren't the picture-perfect family with siblings who all got along and were best friends, these siblings were all so different and were actually quite mean to Breanna at times. Since Breanna was the fifth child of nine, she didn't connect with her four older or four younger siblings. She was kind of stuck in the middle, suffering big time from "middle child syndrome." It's funny because I could totally relate with Breanna. Though I am the middle child of only three, I often felt like I didn't belong. Growing up, my older and younger brothers were a team, and I, the only girl, felt left out quite often. Of course as we got older this faded away and we all became very close, but I could see where Breanna felt that she didn't quite belong. She didn't have a strong connection with any one sibling, though she saw her other siblings forming strong sibling relationships. I really appreciated this part of the story.

The Terror... oh, how I love those guys!! As I mentioned in my review of Nowhere But Here, I have been around motorcycle clubs before. And as each one is entirely different, what I can see that is very much the same is the family feeling. These guys stick by each other through thick and thin, literally. They may not always get along, agree with the others' decisions, or even like each other at all times... but they're a family, first and foremost. Though I, personally, don't think I could ever handle a life with Razor and his "family", I can honestly see what a struggle it was for Breanna and the other women connected to this club. I'm definitely looking forward to getting to know even more about the Terror in the next two books.
 
 
  THE ROMANCE:

: Ahhh!! Breanna & Razor... where do I even begin? This relationship had the slow-burn feel that I love, mixed with the opposites attract trope and even a dash of forbidden love. So good!! Breanna was honestly pretty terrified of Razor, and with good reason. There were major rumors around their small town that the Terror was responsible for several murders, as well as other horrific behavior. So when Breanna sees Razor, who's real name is Thomas, approaching her, she freezes. Stone cold terrified. But what's so great about this relationship is that as Razor makes his presence known around Breanna, she slowly starts to warm up to him, letting the fear slide to the sidelines. I loved watching their relationship slowly blossom into so much more! And that first kiss scene... whoa!!




  BECCA
: I have so much love for Breanna and Razor. Breanna has decided that for her Senior year, she wants to shed the genuis good girl image and live a little. But a member of the Reign of Terror, is not exactly what she had in mind! Razor has know Breanna his entire life, and is surprised by this new side of her, he seems to really see her now.

These two were so different from each other and at the same time so much alike! They were both so intelligent, with a lot of family history on their shoulders and both outcasts among their peers for very different reasons. As much as Breanna isn't sure about Razor because of all of the rumors she has heard, she is also drawn to him. In reverse, Razor initially thinks that he only wants Breanna for her mind... but it becomes a lot more than that!

Slow burn is right Lisa! The connection and sparks between these two were flying off the pages at me from their very first encounter! I loved the slow build and how their friendship and trust was built first before anything else happened. And OMG that first kiss! It was seriously one of the best first kisses I've ever read! Lisa and I had to text just to swoon about it!

: Katie McGarry has blown me away yet again! She amazes me each and every time and I have so much love for her writing, her characters and these incredible families that she builds. I am such a fan of the Reign of Terror and I cannot wait to see what happens next in this world! Are we finally going to get Violet and Chevy's story?! I hope so, but even if it's not, I'm in!!

: Ahhh!! Violet and Chevy would be PERFECTION!! I honestly don't care who it is, because like you, Becca, I'm all in!! There are two more books in this series, and I'm beyond excited to continue on with this amazing group of characters. Katie McGarry hasn't disappointed us yet, and I'm confident that she never will. Bring on more Reign of Terror!!! ♥

I absolutely love Katie McGarry, have ever since I first read Pushing the Limits, so it pains me to say that I didn’t particularly love Walk the Edge. Overall, it was just an okay read – I really wanted more out of it. I didn’t connect with the main characters all that well, and I got frustrated with the secondary characters. It’s well-written and definitely more on the mature side of YA, but that wasn’t enough to make me love this book. That being said, if you’ve read the previous Thunder Road book and loved it, hopefully you’ll enjoy Walk the Edge more than I did. I was sucked into the MC life just as much as I was in Nowhere But Here, but it was the characters I had problems with.

Breanna is sibling number 5 out of 9, and she’s always been the smart, responsible one that her family takes advantage of and never appreciates. She has a talent that she sees as a curse – she’s able to retain a lot of information in her brain, but she’s been seen as a freak because of it her whole life. It’s only when she starts talking to Thomas Turner, aka Razor of the Reign of Terror Motorcycle Club, that she begins to feel as brilliant as she really is. Breanna is sweet and an incredible girl, but I hated how she let her family walk all over her. I really felt for her character, in between her siblings nearly hating her and bullies at school, but it’s hard for her to stand up for herself, and all the antagonism against her got on my nerves.

Razor has never been the same since his mother’s death when he was a child, but ever since talking to an investigator, he suspects his mother never committed suicide and instead was murdered. Razor doesn’t trust easily, and when his club doesn’t offer the answers he knows they have, he begins to trust even less. But when he’s with Breanna, he can just be a regular boy, and not someone who has heaps of problems in his life.

She’s my girl now and I’ll do anything for her at any time. I’m in love with her.

Even though I didn’t connect very well with Razor or Breanna, I adored the way their romance developed. It’s the perfect bad boy/good girl story – so if you enjoy that trope, I would definitely recommend giving Walk the Edge a try. Hopefully you won’t be as annoyed as I was with all the secondary characters who cause problems in Razor and Breanna’s life. Even though I didn’t love Walk the Edge, I’m super excited for the sequel, Chevy and Violet’s book – I’ve been looking forward to them ever since meeting them in the first book of the series!
