This book was simply amazing. I honestly had no idea what to expect when I started reading this book. I've started working through my to-read list here on goodreads and this was back towards the beginning meaning that I put it on the to-read list back in 2011, two years ago.

Not only was this supremely well written young adult fiction but it also resonated deeply with me as a runner. I could not even imagine having to deal with losing a leg, something so absolutely crucial to a runner's identity. Yes, this book is supremely moving on its own but to a runner it's pretty much incredible. 

Then Van Draanen gradually weaves Rosa into Jessica's life and the storyline building to an ending that put tears in my eyes. (That's all I'll say about that.)

This book is pretty much the bomb. I highly recommend it.
