I love the world these stories are set in. I liked this volume a little less than the last one.

I'm not sure I understand why the blurb describes the FBI agent as a born-again Xtian though. If it was there, I totally missed it. Odd.

Doctor Who Screenwriter Ben Aaronovitch's superbly entertaining supernatural crime series has, with its witty one-liners and wonderfully erudite take on London, won a legion of fans in double quick time. Peter Grant is learning magic fast. And its just as well - he's already had run ins with the deadly supernatural children of the Thames and a terrifying killer in Soho. Progression in the Police Force is less easy. Especially when you work in a department of two. A department that doesn't even officially exist. A department that if you did describe it to most people would get you laughed at. And then there's his love life. The last person he fell for ended up seriously dead. It wasn't his fault, but still. Now something horrible is happening in the labyrinth of tunnels that make up the tube system that honeycombs the ancient foundations of London. And delays on the Northern line is the very least of it. Time to call in the Met's Economic and Specialist Crime Unit 9, aka 'The Folly'. Time to call in PC Peter Grant, Britains Last Wizard.

Each of these books takes us deeper into the underbelly of magic in London. 

I love it! Peter is such a great character to follow through each case. His view on magic, and the case is hilarious. I love his commentary, and the messes he falls into. He is so systematic about learning the magic, and wants to understand how it works from a scientific level which is a great addition to the idea that magic is real. Lesley is seriously my favorite character, her comeback arc is going to be epic, I can just feel it.

This book also features a bit of FBI action which is so funny. The depictions of Americans is hilarious, and accurate. 

Already have book 4 downloaded and can't wait to read it.

Solid, nice to be with familiar characters again, and Peter wasn't as obnoxious in this one

The third installment in the Rivers of London series was just as much fun as the first two! In this one, we’re following Peter as he is investigating the high profile murder of a young American student. His investigation leads him into the subway system of London… and much deeper. What he finds is much more than what he was expecting.

This one was a romp of a book! I really enjoyed the new characters that were introduced in this one and again getting to watch Peter adjust to this new, magical world. It’s been so interesting seeing Peter’s development as not only a sorcerer’s apprentice, but a police officer. And I continue to love his snarky tone! I was a little sad that there wasn’t much Nightingale in this one. I still loved the story overall!

The fact that we get introduced to one of my favorite characters, Abigail, certainly helped 😁
