I have so many things to say about this story. It was smart and uplifting and a pleasure to read. I love to read a dystopian novel that has such positive and optimistic themes throughout. I related very much to the happenings surrounding the election, the protests, and the feeling of wanting to do something because even though this takes place in the not too distant future, it completely parallels what is going on in our present. I love David Levithan's writing so much, he's just flipping brilliant.

This book is just, gaaaah. David Levithan is too good for words. He's obviously not a gay Jewish teenager living in a world where the first gay, Jewish president has been elected, but you wouldn't know. His character voices seem effortless, and they are well developed throughout the novel. Plus, the whole idea of the future he creates is amazing. His ideas are truly awesome, and it just makes me wonder why he isn't a politician, fighting for these things. The bittersweet reality though, the Greater Depression and War To End All Wars are things that are viable and likely. It's scary, eye-opening and a book that any young person with an interest in the future and LGBT rights should read.
