Simple story line and a quick read. The audio version wasn't great, so I decided to read it instead. Not sure if I want to continue on with the rest of the series. I feel like it would be more of the same story, just different people.

           I enjoyed this immensely. However i did feel like it was driving to a climax (no pun intended) but never really hit. Kinda spent the whole book at the edge of my seat only for it to have a rushed ending. It would have been better if it was longer.

Con: When Emma was captured by the dude who is dipping his toe in the mercenary and criminal underworld, Dimitri found her and then decided that he would feign nobility and let her go. When they “break up” (sad) they are only b”broken up for like a chapter, and she goes to his house and then get back together an the epilogue talks about their wedding but doesn’t show it.

 PRO: I really like the literary references (LOVED when Dimitri quoted Pushkin by memory and in Russian no less. Panty melter for reals.talk about having a book boyfriend, screw that i want HIM or at least a guy who can quote something from literature —THAT IS NOT ROMEO AND JULIET or roses are red crap.) UGH I LOVE THE RUSSIAN MEN 😂 AND THE STEAM , good God 🥵

I liked this book, the steamy scenes are really steamyyyy. Make sure to read trigger warnings, there is dubcon. A mafia romance that is light on the business, which was nice for a change!

Definitely the worst book I read this year. While I feel like the writer did put in a lot of effort into research and finding proper ways to describe places and food and stuff, the relationship between the two characters was felt purely sexual while they both claimed love is what they feel. I could've done with a bit more plot as well. It really had a good introduction and the beginning and I loved the idea, however, the execution was not to my taste. Did love the dynamic in bed though.
