Becoming a teenager is a rite of passage both feared and craved by adolescents andone which most parents dread. Through this tumultuous time in my life, I kept a diary.I had hoped penning my experience could catalyze closing the gap those years have formed between many families, especially my own. Everything changed when my parents found my precious book, much sooner than I had hoped. They would say, it was nearly too late.Then, I was sent away.The truth is, I kept my diary because I couldn't be honest elsewhere. The truth is, I never wanted to forget. Writing this book was a great therapy, as well as was reading it.I hope that sharing the details of my path in growing up too soon can provide insight to my choices, ones which teenagers and parents face forever. I hope that my own parents, and others can use my experience to guide their own in navigating such sensitive waters. Behind make-up and underneath fishnet and ink, a magical child lives on.Never forget your own.
