But that does not answer the question aked in the title of this book, which then becomes a criterion for testing new developments in teaching and practice within the Church. The author discusses changes in the liturgy and the development of the Churh's understang of marriage, and restates some principles that tend to be overlooked. His long experience of lecturing on theology in seninaries, and explaining the faith in lucid, straightforward terms at outdoor meetings, makes him well qualified to discuss the changes brought about by Vatican II.
