Howard Norman describes love, both romantic and erotic, in a way that made me think of John Williams' Stoner, except with more sex. This is a page-turner which also evokes the beauty of a marriage of true minds. Two intelligent, kind people who are young and in love until tragedy strikes. Beautifully written, and with a love of noir movies, Nova Scotia, 1930's music, libraries, Myrna Loy (also one of my all-time favorites from that era), and, of course, literature. A compelling book that kept me up late finishing it.
